Spike Jonze auteur music video director

Spike Jonze
Born: October 22, 1969 in Rockville, Maryland, USA
His actual name is Adam Spiegel
He has made 61 music videos in total

His most well known video was his collaboration with Fat boy slim with the song 'Weapon of Choice' which won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video.

Style that he uses is that he contradicts stereotypes of well groomed, pristine protagonist and often makes them appear to contradict this mainstream style of being clean and well kept by using a hybrid of gritty and the fantastical.

An example of this is from the video he made with Fat lip with the song 'What's up Fatlip?' as it shows the main protagonists battle with drugs and alcohol which is unconventional as artist try and promote themselves in a clean and professional manner. But Spike Jonze cleverly depicts Fatlips emotion battle after he split from his band farside and tries to convey how drugs can badly effect your life and even make you homeless. This is the real emphasise of thee music as apart from covering Fatlips life, it also documents how making bad decisions in your life can effect you in multiple ways. This idea is repeatedly conveyed throughout the music video with the denotations of him being a clown (which is shown in multiple occasions throughout the music video) and the medium short of him on the street in nothing but underwear and a long coat on with lyrics:
Emotionally scarred
On Pico Boulevard
I was regarded as a retard
shows how an addiction to drugs and alcohol can really impact your life and really mess with you brain.
